EIGHT OVER EIGHT

This one is a real favorite. And well worth the second visit. Of course, we love Asian food, and Eight Over Eight and its trendier sister (mother), E&O, (see separate listing) do a great job, from the modern, airy décor, down to the friendly service. The food, however, is the main reason to go.
Rejecting the two-course express menu (£15 with 1 glass of wine), we chose our lunch á la carte, and did we feast on a large selection of appetizers (all between £6-6.50). Our starters included pomelo and pomegranate rolls, and butternut squash, water chestnuts and snow peas also in roll form, but steamed and then grilled . Then we moved into prawn and chive dumplings, tuna tartare, and the best pork spare ribs Gary has encountered.
Finally, a spicy beef to wrap in lettuce leaves, warm aubergine salad (£9.50), and banana peppers and sweet potato tempura (£7). The menu is the same at lunch and dinner; the prices, too.
The only difference is that there are four chefs at lunch and eight at dinner. Guess the crowd is a dinner one. Reservations probably a must at dinner; lunch a little more relaxed.
